How Mixed Race of Artists Affects Aesthetics

April 2014

Perceived attractiveness of mixed culture is reflective in today’s art industry as a paradigm of uniqueness. Furthermore, mixes of different genres in craftsmanship has become a dominant aesthetic. This study observes elitism and preference of mixed-race in the 21st century, considering factors of hybrid vigor. This project was guided by Doctor Malin Pereira, executive director of UNC-Charlotte’s Honors Program, and presented at the Undergraduate Research Conference (2014).

Research topic was influenced by interests prompted by The Elegance of the Hedgehog, as required by Reading In Slow Motion’s course syllabus at UNC-Charlotte’s Honors College. Discussions, essays, and drafts can be found here.
